THRIVE Program: Empowering First Nations Young People in Rockhampton
The Together Helping Resilient Indigenous Voices Emerge (THRIVE) program was delivered in September 2025 to celebrate and empower young First Nations people in the Rockhampton region.
Designed by and for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, it was a movement that:
- strengthened leadership
- inspired change
- unlocked potential.
Through culturally responsive workshops, mentorship, and connection to support networks, THRIVE helped participants to:
- develop leadership skills to support their community and other young people
- build resilience and confidence
- create positive change for themselves, their families, and their communities
- connect with key stakeholders in employment, training, and support services
- build a network of peers, mentors and Elders to support their journeys.
Post-program workshop
To wrap up the THRIVE program, participants and their families are invited to attend a specialised, 2-day cultural agility, leadership and high-performance development workshop.
Across the 2 days, participants will:
- further develop skills across key areas such as leadership, health and wellbeing, youth support, community participation, and arts and culture
- develop practical tools to lead with confidence, purpose and cultural grounding
- learn stories of strength and seeing culture as a strong foundation
- hear from high-performance leaders and guest speakers.
The workshop will be held in Rockhampton across Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th July 2026. Participants are encouraged to reach out to the Rockhampton Local Decision Making Body (LDMB) for more information.
