The 2024 Buy Smart Competition is now open.
To enter the Buy Smart Competition you need to download the student entry form, complete your entry project, and submit these to us by the closing date.
You will find a helpful and interesting workbook, together with the entry form, in the student entry kit below. You may wish to follow this workbook to guide you through the competition process.

Competition closing date
The 2024 Buy Smart Competition will close on Friday 13 September.
Getting your project back
Entries are not generally returned after judging, except in extraordinary circumstances.
We keep the entries to use as examples during our school visits and to inspire other students to enter future competitions.
Film and photo consent
We receive many different types of entries, and they often show students’ faces in videos or photographs. We also have photographs and video being taken throughout the award ceremony. Photographs of winners and their entries are posted on our website.
However, we understand that some people may not want their entry or photo to be used to encourage other students to enter future competitions. If this is the case, please contact us to discuss your options.
Video length requirements
We love to see technology incorporated into your projects. Entries made up of or including recorded media (i.e. video, audio) are limited to either:
- 5 minutes for a single recording
- 10 minutes in total if multiple recordings are included in an entry.
