Fundraise through an existing charity
The quickest and easiest way to start fundraising legally is to partner with an existing charity. For example, you might want to fundraise to help a person meet the costs of a medical condition.
You must:
- have written authority from the charity to conduct the fundraiser
- comply with any conditions they set
- use the charity’s name when fundraising
- deposit all fundraising proceeds into the charity’s account.
The charity must:
- be responsible for all fundraising activities
- distribute the proceeds from the fundraising
- include the income and expenditure as part of their financial accounts.
If you're not authorised by an existing charity, you need to do one of the following:
- register as a charity
- apply to fundraise for a community purpose
- apply to fundraise for a one-off appeal.
