Blue card check

When you apply for a blue card, we check information from a range of sources.

This is called assessable information.

Assessable information may include:

  • charges or convictions for offences in Australia, even if no conviction was recorded. The includes spent convictions, pending charges and non-conviction charges.
  • some orders, reporting obligations or applications under the
    • Child Protection (Offender Reporting
    • Offender Prohibition Order) Act 2004
    • Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003.
  • court orders that stop a person from applying for or holding a blue card
  • disciplinary information from some organisations. This includes information about
    • teachers
      child care licensees
    • foster carers
    • disability workers.
  • domestic and family violence information. This includes
    • domestic violence orders
    • police protection notices
    • police protection directions.
  • interstate working with children check information.
  • police investigation information about alleged serious child-related sexual offences. Even if no charges were laid.
  • other information that may show a risk to children. This includes information applicants must disclose, such as child protection information.
