More people are getting the flu every year. Nearly 100,000 Queenslanders got it last year, and more than 7,000 people ended up in hospital. Most of those weren’t vaccinated.

Flu season is here – book you and your family in early. Queenslanders aged 6 months and older can get their free flu vaccine any time from 1 March to 30 September 2026. You don’t need a Medicare card.
Nasal spray flu vaccination for children
The 2026 nasal spray flu immunisation program has finished. Your child can still have the free injection.
Where to get vaccinated
Book your free flu vaccine with your GP, pharmacist, community clinic or another vaccination provider. The best time to get vaccinated is before the flu season peaks.
