NAIDOC Week

Each year, NAIDOC Week celebrations highlight the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Australians.

NAIDOC Week celebrations and community events are a great opportunity for all Queenslanders to come together and acknowledge the histories, cultures, customs and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.

The 2023 NAIDOC Week theme is: For Our Elders.

“Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families. They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.” (NAIDOC website)

Find out how you can celebrate First Nations cultures and acknowledge the significant contributions of our Elders through the national NAIDOC website.

You can also learn more about NAIDOC Week’s history and the annual awards, grants and poster competition.

If you would like to promote the week within your organisation, or if you are hosting an event, you will find a range of useful promotional material here.
