Information for not-for-profit organisations

All Queensland not-for-profit organisations, including charities and community groups, must not supply banned single-use plastic items, unless they are an exempt business.

Suppliers, distributors and wholesalers of banned items may supply them to a not-for-profit organisation if they have a reasonable belief that they are an exempt business.

More information on how to comply with the bans.

What you can do

You are encouraged to identify whether banned items still need to be provided to the people you support, and if so, what they can be replaced with.

Australian Retail Council and Boomerang Alliance worked with businesses and not-for-profit organisations to assist their understanding of the ban and how to comply.
