Any land manager with the ‘legal right’ to undertake a carbon farming project under the Emissions Reduction Fund can apply. Legal right has a specific meaning and has two main parts:
- The right to carry out the project activity on the project site(s)
- A lawful and exclusive right to be issued with the carbon credits generated as a result of the project.
You must make a single application for each project site, so if you are applying for multiple sites, you must complete a separate application for each one.
Only new carbon farming projects are eligible for the 2020 Investment Round. However, if you are switching from an existing carbon method to another method, the Land Restoration Fund considers this as a new project.
