Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Prevention Month is held in Queensland each May to raise community awareness and understanding of DFV and to highlight support services available to people impacted by this form of violence.
Although DFV Prevention Month has finished for 2026, Queenslanders can help prevent DFV throughout the year as everyone has a role in creating safe, respectful and supportive communities. By consistently taking small and positive actions, we can change the conditions that allow and drive violence, or even excuse, justify or promote harmful actions, behaviours and social norms.
Together Queenslanders can send a clear message that violence in our communities is not tolerated.
About Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month
DFV Prevention Month aims to:
- increase awareness and understanding of the impacts of DFV
- promote respectful and healthy relationships
- encourage Queenslanders to speak up and take action, and
- highlight support services available to people impacted by DFV.
