Ask a body corporate question

You can use this form to ask the Office of the Commissioner for Body Corporate and Community Management (BCCM) a question.

Please be aware that we cannot give you legal advice.

We can provide general information on the Body Corporate and Community Management Act 1997 (BCCM Act) and the 5 associated regulation modules.

We also provide general information about administration and financial management of bodies corporate that fall under the following laws:

  • Building Units and Group Titles Act (1980) (BUGT Act)
  • Mixed Use Development Act 1993 (MUD Act)
  • Integrated Resort Development Act 1987 (IRD Act)
  • Sanctuary Cove Resort Act 1985 (SCR Act).

We cannot:

  • review documents or confirm if something is right, wrong, valid or invalid
  • give you your body corporate contact details (they are not registered with us)—contact Titles Queensland or look at paperwork the body corporate has sent you
  • give information on any other laws (e.g. fire safety, work health and safety)—details of other relevant agencies are listed to the right or below this form.

You will need to know which Act or regulation module your body corporate is registered under so we can give you relevant information.

If your body corporate does have a community management statement (CMS) registered, it will fall under the BCCM Act and one of the associated regulation modules will apply.

A body corporate that does not have a CMS registered will fall under one of the other Acts listed above.

If you're not sure, contact Titles Queensland on (07) 3497 3479 to find out. You can find out by telling them your address or searching for a copy of the registered survey plan.

It can take us up to 14 days to respond to your question, so we recommend you read the body corporate and community management topics before submitting your question. Most answers will be found on our webpages.

If your question is urgent, phone us on 1800 060 119 (freecall).
