In short
You can use this service to check how many demerit points you have recorded.
Demerit points are only added to your record once an infringement has been finalised (the fine has been paid, sent to the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER), dealt with in court).
If you have a Queensland driver licence, you may be able to check your demerit points online.
See How to check your demerit points for the full process and other ways to check.
What you should know
If you commit a traffic offence in Queensland or interstate, demerit points may be added to your traffic history.
In Queensland, you don’t lose demerit points. Instead, you start with zero and demerit points are added to your traffic history when you commit certain offences. See How demerit points work.
In Queensland, double demerit points apply all year round.
Checking your demerit points
You can use this service to find out:
- the number of demerit points recorded
- how long demerit points last (the accumulation period)
- information about your Queensland driver licence, including status.
Demerit points will not be added to your record until:
- the fine has been paid and processed (for example, BPAY payments can take a few days to reach us)
- an overdue fine has been sent to SPER
- an infringement dispute has been finalised
- the offence has been dealt with in court.
Demerit points that have been ‘dealt with’ as part of a good driving behaviour (GDB) or suspension period are not counted in your demerit points total.
