Interstate and overseas registry offices
The Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages registers and makes available certificates for life events that occurred in Queensland, including:
- civil partnerships
- changes of name.
If you need to register a birth, death, marriage, civil partnership or change of name (or buy a certificate for a life event) that occurred outside Queensland, you must contact the registering authority interstate or overseas where the event took place.

For the rules and regulations for getting married overseas, contact the relevant authority of the country where you wish to get married, such as the embassy or consulate.
If you want to enter a civil partnership and you and your partner do not live in Queensland, contact the registering authority interstate or a registered civil partnership notary in the state or territory where you live.

- The Brisbane registry customer service centre at Level 32, 180 Ann Street, Brisbane
- Monday–Friday: 8.30am–4.30pm
- Public holidays: Closed
- One of our agents at a Queensland courthouse and Queensland Government Agency Program (QGAP) office locations (except the Brisbane Magistrates Court).
