For an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, this may be a person who is regarded as one of these relatives under Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island tradition.

Where a person’s parent is not a natural parent, it also includes anyone who would be a relative mentioned earlier if the parent were a natural parent.
