Traffic-busting alternative route into Caloundra on the way
Construction is now underway on the Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade, the first major project that is part of the Caloundra Congestion Busting Plan.
More than 60,000 vehicles travel along the Caloundra Road corridor every day and these upgrades will get Queenslanders home sooner and safer.
Works started on both the Omrah Avenue to Arthur Street section and the Nicklin Way and Third Avenue extension, following the appointment of SEE Civil.
The 1.6-kilometre road upgrade and extension are futureproofing the busy Caloundra Road, delivering a plan for Caloundra’s lifestyle and economic development needs.
The project provides an alterative route into Caloundra CBD that will reduce traffic congestion at the Caloundra Road/Nicklin Way/Pelican Waters Boulevard roundabout, with flow-on benefits for drivers in surrounding areas Currimundi, Dicky Beach and Moffat Beach.
As part of planning for Queensland’s future, the Queensland Government is also progressing design and approvals for a major upgrade of the Caloundra Road, Kawana Way Link Road and Bells Creek Arterial Road intersection.
Jointly funded by the Queensland Government and Sunshine Coast Council, the project represents a major investment in Caloundra’s transport infrastructure and supports the region’s growing population and future transport needs.
SEE Group Chief Executive Officer Joel Barnes said SEE Civil was proud to be delivering the Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade on behalf of the Queensland Government and Sunshine Coast Council.
"With more than 300 local employees and deep roots in the Sunshine Coast, SEE Civil is proud to be delivering this vital infrastructure project,” Mr Barnes said.
“The Caloundra Transport Corridor Upgrade is more than a road project; it's an investment in connectivity, community and the long-term future of the region.” – Joel Barnes, SEE Group Chief Executive Officer
“Our people live and work here, and we're committed to delivering infrastructure that supports growth, creates opportunities and leaves a positive legacy for future generations."
The Caloundra Congestion Busting Plan is just one of the ways the Queensland Government is building Queensland’s future to help get Queenslanders home sooner and safer.
