PCYCs coming to Pimpama and Beaudesert

One of Queensland’s largest providers of sport and recreation, PCYC Queensland is an award-winning charity focused on building safer, healthier communities through youth development.

A win for the communities on the northern Gold Coast and Scenic Rim, two new PCYCs are on the way for Pimpama and Beaudesert, plugging the gaps between nearby facilities.

For Pimpama locals, the nearest PCYC is currently around a 20-minute drive from the region, with the new state-of-the-art facility expected to be delivered before the end of 2028.

A PCYC coming to Beaudesert will be the first for the Scenic Rim, opening the door to the Beaudesert district community.

Once open, PCYC Pimpama and PCYC Beaudesert will encourage young Queenslanders to participate in their programs and services that promote active lifestyles, youth development, crime prevention and community engagement.

PCYC Queensland has a major, measurable impact on the communities they work in, running targeted, early-intervention programs for at-risk youth, from After Dark to Deep Drop In, and providing safe recreational spaces.

Pimpama is one of Australia’s fastest growing suburbs, with the population jumping around 162 per cent between 2016 and 2021, which is mostly attributed to young families and first home buyers.

Investing in the future of this growing community, PCYC Pimpama is jointly funded by the Queensland Government and the City of Gold Coast.

A few standouts of the PCYC Pimpama:

  • A large two-story youth space
  • A gym and fitness facilities
  • An external half basketball court
  • A large gymnastics hall – also offering Playtime and Little n Active programs for under-fives

The Queensland Government and the Scenic Rim Regional Council are jointly funding the Beaudesert PCYC.

This represents an important milestone for the growing region, with the new PCYC set to feature a 24/7 Gym+Fitness centre, two basketball courts, and a range of sport and recreation opportunities.

“Most importantly of all, [PCYC Beaudesert] will be a space where local young people can make connections in a safe and inclusive environment through our youth programs,” Mr Schultz says.

“They can meet mentors, explore leadership opportunities, enjoy sport and recreation, and build life skills.”

This investment from the Queensland Government is in much more than infrastructure; it’s an investment in the health, safety and wellbeing of young Queenslanders.
