Poitrel coal project
The EIS process for this project has now concluded.
Project summary
BHP Mitsui Coal Pty Ltd is the proponent for a new open-cut coal-mine to be known as the Poitrel Coal Project. The proponent lodged a Voluntary Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) application for the project that was accepted by the department on 7 October 2004. The department managed the assessment process for the project using the EIS process set out in Part 1 of Chapter 3 of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (EP Act).
The EIS assessment report was issued to the proponent in November 2005, completing the EIS process under Chapter 3, Part 1 of the EP Act.
