Open Doors Women's support service

Services

Open Doors provides counselling and support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender young people and their families who live within the greater Brisbane area or are prepared to travel to the service. Open Doors will also work with service providers and communities in the South East Queensland region - south to the Gold Coast Region, West to the Darling Downs and North to Wide Bay. Open Doors also accepts referrals from young people, parents, friends, schools and other services. Services offered are: Counselling and Support - This involves catching up with a support worker to discuss issues such as realisation and coming out, family issues, housing, income support, education and training, sexual assault and abuse issues, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues and independent living. (Meet at premises in some cases will travel to meet at mutually convenient location). Drop In: Drop in happens every Wednesday afternoon from 2 - 5pm at Open Doors. Activities (art based and more) and safe meeting space. Groups: Assist form groups around a particular issue or an activity Family Work: Provide support to family members to assist them to support and have healthy relationships with their children. Where a parent or a young person requests, we will provide mediation between family members to assist communication and in the resolution of current conflicts. Education and Training programs and Education Network promoting understanding and knowledge in school communities.
