Murrigunyah Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Women is an organisation established and controlled by local women from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of Logan City and Surrounding areas. Murrigunyah provides a contact point for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women and their families through a day-to-day supportive service that offers support counselling, advocacy, practical assistant and information. We facilitate referrals to appropriate services for our clients; act as a cultural link between women, their families and other services; establish support groups that are culturally appropriate for our clients and their families; and community education on the issues surrounding family/sexual violence. They provide support counselling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women and their families who are survivor or victims of sexual violence; court support; educational groups sessions; information and referrals; and act as a cultural link with other mainstream services.
