Services

In Queensland, the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety is responsible for administering adoption legislation and providing statutory services to parents considering adoption for their children, children requiring adoptive placements, people seeking to adopt children and eligible adults affected by adoption seeking information. The department's Local and Post Adoption Services Unit, located in Brisbane, is responsible for coordinating adoption services to people. They also provide services to people in Queensland who are seeking to adopt a child from an overseas country through the Intercountry Adoption Program. Works with perspective adoptive parents and step parent adoption Tracing birth parents and/or children. Post Box Service for under 18 years (exchanging correspondence between consenting parties). Information on lodging an objection to disclosure/contact. Minor information on interstate departments.
