The Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety is the sole agency with authority to arrange inter-country adoptions in Queensland. The Adoption of Children Act 1964, Adoption of Children Amendment Act 2002 and the Adoption of Children Regulation 1999 provide the legal basis for adoption in Queensland. The department is the sole agency with authority to arrange adoptions in Queensland and is responsible for administering the Act and Regulation and the inter-country adoption program in Queensland.
