Alcohol restrictions are in place in the discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland. They aim to help improve the health and well-being of all people living in these communities.
Travelling in alcohol-restricted areas
There are alcohol restrictions in 15 communities across Queensland, which ban or limit the amount and type of alcohol you can take into a community.
Fines and penalties
It is against the law to go into a restricted area with more alcohol than the carriage limit. Fines and penalties apply.
Dry places
A 'dry place' is a house where no alcohol is allowed. You can apply to make your house a dry place in some Queensland communities
