SpeakOUT event series

Hey there, young Queenslanders! The Queensland Government wants to hear your voice and make sure your opinions count when it comes to decisions that affect you.

SpeakOUT events are an opportunity to join other young Queenslanders (15–25 years) to influence state decisions that impact Queensland’s youth by speaking out on topics that are most important to you. At SpeakOUT events, you get the power to speak up and tell the government what you want to see in a better Queensland. Since the inception of Speak OUT, over 1,000 young people have stepped up and spoken out to make a difference. Whether you’re passionate about protecting our environment, fighting for social justice, promoting mental health, improving education, finding employment opportunities, or event tackling issues in your local community, these events are a chance to directly connect with the government and share your vision with like-minded peers.

Rather than adhering to a fixed agenda, young people are encouraged to raise topics that are current and of significance to them, resulting in the dynamic and evolving content of Speak OUTs. Speak OUT events provide an inclusive environment with flexible participation options that cater to diverse preferences, such as talking, drawing, or writing. Participants are encouraged to choose the activities that best suit them, ensuring a comfortable and accessible experience.

Feedback received is then transformed into insightful reports that are shared across the government, ensuring that all agencies have an understanding of what young people are telling us to influence the direction of government policy, programs and support services.
