Rail Safety Week: Attention equals Prevention

Rail Safety Week runs from the 12-18 August 2019 and highlights the importance of being safe and acting responsibility on and around our rail networks.

This year Transport and Main Roads theme is Attention equals Prevention.

One of the easiest ways we can be more responsible around our rail networks is simply to be more attentive.  Popping mobile devices away, taking out earphones, standing behind platform lines and obeying the signs and signals all play a big role in keeping us safe and preventing incidents.

Ensuring both our staff and community get home safely after travelling on board trains or trams or crossing tracks or level crossings is a major priority for TMR.  We care about our people and the community and potentially traumatic events involving fatalities, near hits or collisions on the network can be avoided by being more attentive and taking precautions.

Rail Safety Week is the perfect opportunity to showcase the release of the department's new SEQ and regional railway videos, that promote being attentive and staying safe around our infrastructure.

Rail Safety Week is a TrackSAFE Foundation initiative celebrated in August each year and supported by TMR, Queensland Rail, Aurizon, TransLink and G:Link in promoting year round community awareness of rail safety. For more information check out their website.
