How to enrol in PrepL

To enrol in PrepL and complete your learning and assessment you need to complete the following steps:

Step 1: check your eligibility

To enrol in PrepL you must be:

  • At least 15 years and 11 months of age

and

Step 2: create a Transport and Main Roads account

Before you can enrol in PrepL you need to have a Transport and Main Roads customer reference number issued.

You will already have a customer reference number issued if you have:

  • a Queensland recreational marine licence
  • an Adult Proof of Age card or photo identification card
  • a fine that has been issued in your name
  • a disability parking permit issued in your name

You must use your customer reference number when enrolling in PrepL.

For assistance on how to locate your customer reference number, you can call 13 23 80 or visit us in person at a transport and motoring customer service centre.

If you don't have a customer reference number, you can apply online when you enrol in PrepL. A customer reference number will automatically be issued when you enrol. You will need a valid email address to complete the enrolment process.

Your learner licence will not be issued to you until you are at least 16 years of age, produce evidence of your identity in person at a transport and motoring customer service centre and have your photo taken.

If you have a medical condition that is likely to adversely affect your ability to drive you will need to notify us prior to your licence being issued. Find out more about medical condition reporting.

Step 3: enrol in PrepL

You will need to pay the enrolment fee of $25.30.

You will need access to an accepted card type for payment (a credit or debit card) to pay the enrolment fee and complete the enrolment process, A credit card surcharge applies to all credit card payments. The credit card surcharge applies to all products paid using our online services.

If you don't have access to an accepted card type to make a payment (a credit or debit card) you will need to attend a transport and motoring customer service centre in person to pay the enrolment fee.

Step 4: enrol online

For security reasons, we can't complete the PrepL enrolment process on your behalf, this needs to be completed online.

  1. Access enrol in PrepL
  2. Accept the terms and conditions
  3. Enrol and pay the course fee (if not paid at a transport and motoring customer service centre).
