Getting a learner licence

You can apply for a learner licence in Queensland when you turn 16.

You must pass a written road rules test before you can get your learner licence.

To prepare for the written test, you will need to study Queensland’s road rules.

Practising the test online will help you decide when you are ready to take the test.

Learner driver kit

In addition to your learner licence, you will also receive a learner driver kit.

This kit contains a:

  • learner logbook to record your supervised on-road driving
  • Road Trip for learner drivers brochure—hints and tips to help you get started and progress through your learning experience
  • Road Trip for supervisors brochure—advice to help your supervising driver teach you how to drive safely.

You and your supervisor should read through and understand these documents before your first driving lesson.
