Queensland Seniors Week

Queensland Seniors Week provides opportunities to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation, and enhance community connections, aligning with the Queensland Government’s vision of building age-friendly communities in Queensland.

This year marks the 60th year of celebrating Queensland seniors, and sees our first virtual Queensland Seniors Week combining with in-person events across the state from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 August 2020.

Virtual activities provide the opportunity for seniors to socialise from the comfort and safety of their own homes – you can try out new types of events online, with offerings like art, theatre, exercise and other informative workshops.

The week will kick off with Drawn Together, an event featuring performances and conversation between generations streamed online from the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) on 15 August at 10.30am.

The Queensland Government funds the Council on the Ageing Queensland to coordinate Seniors Week on its behalf.
