Southern Queensland Correctional Centre

Opening in January 2012, the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC), is the first completed stage of the Southern Queensland Correctional Precinct.

The Centre provides high security secure placement accommodation for sentenced and remand women that are classified as high or low security. It houses both secure and residential prisoners.

SQCC is staffed by a variety of different professions including Administration officers, Counsellors, Education and Program officers, Psychologists, Trade Instructors, Cultural Liaison Officers and Landscapers.

The women at SQCC have a wide range of employment opportunities within the Centre in areas including food services, horticulture, laundry operations and manufacturing.

Southern Queensland Correctional Centre works to address offending behaviours by offering a various therapeutic interventions and substance abuse counselling.

SQCC encourages women to prepare themselves for success upon release into the community and delivers a varied suite of educational and vocational programs in which women can receive Certificate II and III qualifications.

As one of the newest Correctional Centres in Queensland, it is equipped with a number of water and energy saving features including toilets with flush valves that control the number of flushes in a 24-hour period, timed shower controls and stormwater harvesting.

Applications to visit (either in person or virtual) must have a Form 27 submitted and approved. The completed forms may be forwarded by mail to the address below or by email to: SQCCVisitsProcessing@Corrections.qld.gov.au

Transport

A bus service is available for visitors to the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre. There is no charge to visitors for this service.

Visitors MUST be an approved visitor to use this service.

Booking times for Prison Transport Group are Tuesday to Thursday between 10am to 2pm and Friday between 10am to 4pm.

Prisoners' visits entitlements change in accordance with their Incentives and Earned Privileges status.

Visitors are no longer required to wear a face mask. A visitor may be directed to wear a face mask where they display cold or flu like symptoms. Visiting restrictions remain in place if a visitor is a COVID diagnosed person or COVID close contact.
