The Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, located 25 kilometres south of Mareeba, accommodates high and low security prisoners and provides a remand and reception.
The centre's catchment area for its prisoner population includes Northwest to Mount Isa, east to Cairns and north to the Cape York Region across to the Torres Strait Islands. The centre is client centric and aims to build cultural safety in its programs and services, as approximately 70 per cent of the prisoner population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
The centre delivers programs to address criminogenic needs to increase community safety and provides high quality assessment, case management and intervention services to promote mental health and wellbeing.
