Court outcome: Joshua Anthony Ward
Joshua Anthony Ward, operator of Wards Fencing in the Moreton Bay Region has been charged after an investigation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
The OFT investigated the trader after he accepted payment from a consumer for the supply and installation of fencing but failed to deliver the goods and services.
Mr Ward had rescheduled the commencement date but failed to appear as promised. He ceased all contact with the consumer. The consumer was left $1,200 out of pocket.
The matter was heard in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court (14 April 2023). Mr Ward did not appear, and the matter was heard in his absence.
Mr Ward was fined $10,000 and ordered to pay $1,200 in compensation to the affected consumer.
