Button battery safety consultation
The ACCC is continuing its investigation into button battery safety and considering the options for implementing a mandatory safety and information standard for button batteries and products containing button batteries under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
The ACCC released a consultation paper about the regulatory options for button battery safety for comment. This paper includes detailed policy options as well as a series of questions that the community was given the opportunity to respond to.
The consultation has closed. Responses informing the ACCC’s development of a final recommendation to the Australian Government in 2020.
