Complete your registration

You only need to register once on the Graduate Portal to be considered for graduate opportunities across the Queensland Government.

Once you are registered, your details are entered into a database and we will invite you to apply for graduate positions that align with your qualifications.

Registering your interest on the portal is not a formal application for a graduate program.

Your registration will remain current until the end of the year. You will need to register again next year if you would like to be considered for graduate or student opportunities.

Creating an account

After reviewing the graduate opportunities available, use the relevant registration button on the Graduate programs page. Before accessing the registration form, you'll be directed to a login screen where you have the option to 'create an account'.

If you have already applied for a job on Queensland Government's SmartJobs, or have registered your interest on the Graduate Portal in a previous year, login using your existing username (email) and password and you will be directed to the registration form.

If you do not have an existing Graduate Portal or Smart Jobs account, select 'create an account'. Then login using your new account details and you'll be directed to the registration form.

Password and log in

To generate a new password, select 'I forgot my password' and a temporary password will be sent to your registered email address.

If you receive a message saying the 'account has been registered', select 'I forgot my password' and a temporary password will be sent to your email address.

Upload attachments

You will need to upload a copy of your curriculum vitae and academic transcript where indicated on the registration form.

These file types are accepted:

  • doc
  • pdf
  • docx
  • rtf
  • jpg
  • jpeg
  • txt
  • bmp
  • gif.

Files cannot be larger than 2 megabytes.

Selecting 'view attachments' will allow you to view documents already attached and remove any attachments that are not relevant.

If you are still having issues uploading your documents try:

  • checking the file size
  • removing any saved drafts
  • clearing your cache by selecting the 'Ctrl' and 'F5' keys
  • closing your browser
  • using a different browser (e.g. Mozilla Firefox or Chrome)
  • starting again.

Registration status

If your registration status is 'submitted', your registration has been successfully received and is in the system. You will receive a confirmation email and you will be considered for upcoming graduate opportunities. Check your junk mail folder if you do not receive the confirmation email.

Include contact details

You must include your mobile or home phone number and email address in your registration form, so we can contact you if you're invited to apply for a program.

Select your qualification discipline in the registration form. If your qualification discipline is not listed as an option, select 'other' and detail your discipline.

Grades and extra-curricular activities

When assessing graduate applications, some agencies may use your grade point average (GPA) to shortlist candidates. Ensure your GPA is based on the seven grade point average scale. A conversion chart is available on the registration form to assist in completing this question.

However, all program coordinators will be reviewing your application for activities that demonstrate development of interpersonal and professional skills, such as:

  • work experience
  • volunteering
  • part-time and casual work.

Select department preferences

You can select 2 preferred departments where you would like to work. This will not exclude you from being considered for programs in other departments.
