Urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is the escape of urine from the bladder. There are three main types: nocturnal enuresis (or bed-wetting), stress incontinence which is leakage during physical activity, and urge incontinence, where urine escapes from the bladder soon after the urge to pass urine develops.

Urinary incontinence, occurring at least weekly, affects 1 in 21 primary school children and 1 in 13 adults. It is more common in women and in older people. Incontinence can often be cured and where this is not possible, there is much that can be done to improve it - no matter what your age.
