Early Years Centres

Early Years Centres provide children and their families with access to early childhood, health, family and parenting support services.

Each centre is a small, vibrant community which will make your family feel safe, comfortable and supported.

Our centres are staffed with experienced:

  • early childhood educators
  • family support workers
  • child health nurses.

Early Years Centres are funded by the Queensland Government.

They are located throughout Queensland.

Who can visit?

Early Years Centres provide services for anyone expecting a child and families with children from 0 to 8 years of age.

Our services

We have resources and support services* for:

*Services at each centre vary depending on your community’s needs.

Early childhood education and care services

Services, resources, programs and activities may include:

  • kindergarten, long day care, school age care or family day care programs
  • support for families to prepare for and enrol in kindergarten services
  • transition to school programs
  • resources for children with additional or specialised needs
  • support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access and participate in early childhood education and care services
  • support for people with language and cultural backgrounds other than English to access and participate in early childhood education and care services
  • toy libraries and information resources.

Parenting and family support services

Services, resources, programs and activities may include:

  • child-raising support programs
  • parent education, support and advice
  • support for parents to link families with their local support networks, health services, schools, and education services
  • playgroups
  • confidential counselling for children and families (either at home or in the centre)
  • linking with employment services, adult education, and training program advice
  • referrals to specialist services.

Services, resources, programs and activities may include:

Services, resources, programs and activities may include:

  • culturally sensitive support and information
  • linking families with health, family support, and wellbeing services
  • establishing strong cultural identity and community links for children and families
  • strengthening families and supporting community parenting.

Specialist services

You may also be able to access specialist services like:

  • midwives
  • immunisers
  • paediatric occupational therapists
  • child and family psychologists
  • speech therapists
  • nutritionists
  • audiologists
  • inclusion support program workers.
