The Kombumerri rangers care for country within the Guanaba Indigenous Protected Area, and the hinterland of the Gold Coast.

Their priorities include:

  • traditional fire management, feral animal and weed management, and restoration of priority areas (including identified koala areas)
  • Identifying, protecting and maintaining cultural sites, including elevating awareness of values
  • educating the community, through schools and community groups, to increase recognition of the Gold Coast's cultural history and living culture and leverage support for complementary land management
  • identifying, mapping and protecting cultural and natural values, including species surveys and recording (of scientific and traditional names) and sharing data with other organisations to assist planning.
