The project will enable liaison with landholders/land managers and emergency recording of 30+ Butchulla Cultural Heritage sites in the Land and Sea Claim #2 area to enable planning, prioritisation and future conservation of Butchulla assets. Working with Indigenous volunteers from Urangan High School and WYLD (Where Youth Lives Dreams) and Butchulla elders; BMBAA will engage a Cultural Heritage Officer to build knowledge, skills and capacity to conduct site assessments and empower the community to undertake Caring for Country work in the future (including site stabilisation and conservation).
The project will provide participants with mentoring, re-establish a connection to country and pride in culture.
