Queensland Food Waste for Healthy Soils Program

The Queensland Government is partnering with the Australian Government to deliver the Queensland Food Waste for Healthy Soils Program.

The program aims to:

  • support projects that divert nutrient-rich organic material from landfill
  • increase the quantity and improve the quality of recycled organic material
  • develop sustainable markets for high-value compost and soil conditioners
  • the Queensland Government has approved four projects, for a total investment of $4.925 million
  • funding will support activities such as increased processing capacity and facility expansion, equipment purchasing, and technological advancement
  • once operational, the four projects are expected to increase the maximum volume of organic waste processing capacity by over 163,000 tonnes per annum.
