Coastal development approval search (tidal works)
A Coastal Development Approval Search (tidal works) is used to obtain a record of approval for tidal works issued prior to 18 November 2005.
A tidal works search will confirm if existing tidal works (generally including the construction or demolition of structures such as jetties, pontoons, seawalls, navigation channels, and marina basins) have been approved.
To obtain confirmation of an approval of prescribed tidal work* undertaken after 18 November 2005, contact the relevant local government authority.
* (Prescribed tidal work is tidal work that is completely or partly within a local government tidal area and includes integral parts of the structure that extends onto land above high water mark).
What information do I need to do a search?
Before you start the search you will need:
- the Lot number and Registered Plan number, which includes the prefix and numbers of the land. You can find this information on the Title Deed, registered plan or rates notice.
- a Visa or Mastercard for payment.
If you do not have a credit card, you can print a copy of the Coastal Application for development approvals searches (coastal) EM2092 - ESR/2015/1579 (formerly EM2092) (DOCX, 112KB) application form and post it to the address on the form with a cheque made out to Smart Service Queensland.
How much does it cost?
When will I get my results?
Search results will be posted back to you in approximately 15 working days.
If you have not received your Coastal Development Approval Search (tidal works) results in the mail after 15 working days, contact the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP) on 1300 130 372 and select Option 4.
