Withstanding storm tide inundation

Storm tides can have devastating impacts on coastal communities and the environment, causing dangerous levels of flooding in low-lying coastal areas.

Mitigation measures have included community awareness and preparation, as well as effective land-use planning.

We are researching the science of storm tide inundation and associated software modelling approaches.

We have also developed a guide to ‘good practice’ storm inundation mapping and modelling.

The results help disaster managers and local government undertake storm tide inundation studies.
