Gulf of Carpentaria storm tide study

In this study, we investigated the probabilities of coastal inundation caused by tropical cyclones in communities located along the Gulf of Carpentaria coastline.

The results defined storm surge water level statistics at 100km intervals along the gulf, together with inundation mapping for 5 coastal communities.

This provides essential information for future planning and emergency response to mitigate the effects of storm tide inundation.

We coordinated this study with funding from the Commonwealth Government Natural Disaster Mitigation Program and it was completed in 2012.
