Traditional Owners of school land

Recognising the Traditional Owners of the land our education institutions are built on is an important way for students, parents and school staff to show respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Indigenous education website features information on:

  • Traditional Owners of state schools and early childhood centres in Queensland
  • protocols for acknowledging Traditional Owners
  • contact details for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community groups.

The Indigenous Schooling Support Unit (ISSU) can help students and teachers to find out who the Traditional Owners are for other areas of Queensland.
