Rights and entitlements
There are certain employee rights and entitlements you can expect as an early childhood employee in Queensland.
Information about which federal award covers your job, terms and conditions of employment, and pay rates is available from the Fair Work Ombudsman website or by phoning 13 1394.
Blue card
You must have a blue card to work with children in Queensland. This involves a police check and there is a fee to apply.
Note: this blue card is not recognised outside of Queensland. Interstate Working With Children Checks are not valid in Queensland.
