Getting ready for the NDIS

People with disability, their families and carers can learn more about the NDIS and make the most of the opportunities it will bring.

Free information sessions, meetings, workshops, home visits, phone support and online information are available to help people find out more about the NDIS in Queensland and to get ready.

AMPARO Advocacy

Amparo holds information sessions and has translated NDIS information online to assist people with disability from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to get ready for the NDIS. Information sessions are also available to community leaders and multicultural workers.

Community Resource unit

The Community Resource Unit has an online resource called Bringing the Good Life to Life, for people with disability, their families and carers, friends, allies and workers. This website contains a broad selection of articles, videos and ideas  from local, national and international sources. Some of the articles and videos have been produced by CRU and showcase local examples of successful inclusion of people with disability. The resources on this website will be helpful to people as they prepare for the roll out of the NDIS and for future and ongoing planning.


Connections provide phone support, training, resources and online information for people with disability resulting from long-term mental illness (psychosocial disability). They also provide training and resources to mental health providers to help them deliver workshops for their clients.

Deaf Services Queensland

Deaf Services Queensland provides workshops, individual support and deaf friendly web-based resources.

Mamre Association—Pave the Way

The Mamre Association through Pave the Way holds presentations and workshops and provides online information and resources, phone support and face-to-face conversations for people with disability, their families and carers.
They also provide information and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability; people with disability from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with disability experiencing homelessness or additional disadvantage.

Parent to Parent

Parent to Parent holds workshops and provides individual support for carers of people with disability.

Queenslanders with Disability Network

Queenslanders with Disability Network holds workshops, and provides online resources and real life learning experiences for people with intellectual or learning disability in Moreton Bay (including Strathpine and Caboolture) and the North Coast.

QDN also provides NDIS information and support to people with disability experiencing homelessness and additional disadvantage across South East Queensland through their Getting on the NDIS Grid project. NDIS information and training is available to organisations and staff providing homelessness support and community services.
