Queensland Women's Week

In 2017 Queensland Women’s Week celebrations were held from 6 to 12 March, and included a statewide series of events and activities.

The theme for the week was:

Queensland Women: Be involved. Lead the way.

This theme encouraged women and girls to participate, and pursue leadership roles, in their community and workplace.

Community organisations and local councils were among those to share in $150,000 in grants to host Queensland Women’s Week 2017 events and activities ranging from a poetry slam in Brisbane to a trivia night in Dysart.

Visit the Queensland Women's Week website to explore stories from Queensland women who are getting involved and leading the way.

International Women's Day

International Women's Day, held globally on 8 March each year, is a highlight of Queensland Women's Week. On that day, Queensland women join millions of others throughout the world to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.
