Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month

Each May, Queensland marks Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (DFVP Month) to raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and to send a clear message that violence of this sort will not be tolerated.

The Special Taskforce on Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland in its ‘Not Now, Not Ever’ report recommended that individuals, community groups and the private sector work together to help prevent domestic and family violence and support those affected.

The awareness raising events, projects or activities held during DFVP Month each year support the Queensland Government’s response to the ‘Not Now, Not Ever’ report.

There are lots of things that can be done in your community and also as a bystander, throughout the year, to help end domestic and family violence.

Community grants

Each year we provide one-off grants to assist community organisations to hold events, projects or activities during DFVP Month in May to raise awareness. Applications are now closed.
