Personal hardship financial assistance has been activated for some communities at this time—please see below for further information.

Should you be experiencing emotional stress or personal financial hardship from these events, and personal hardship financial assistance has not been activated for your community, you are encouraged to contact your local emergency relief provider or counselling service. View a list of these providers.

Activation areas

Personal hardship financial assistance and the Essential Services Safety and Reconnection Scheme has been activated for people impacted by the bushfire event in the following locations:

Sunshine Coast Regional Council area:

We have activated the following grants:

A Community Recovery hub has been established at the following location:

  • Peregian Beach Community House
    Location: 255 David Low Way, Peregian Beach
    Opening hours: 9am to 5pm daily

Scenic Rim Regional Council area:

  • Binna Burra
  • Canungra
  • Illinbah
  • Sarabah

We have activated the following grants:

Community Recovery will operate from the locally led community centre until Sunday 22 September at:

    Location: 1/1835 Beechmont Road, Beechmont
    Opening hours: 10am to 4pm daily

Disaster assistance for primary producers, small businesses and not for profit organisations

Disaster assistance has been activated for primary producers, small businesses and not for profit organisations in the Scenic Rim and Southern Downs Regional Council areas under the joint Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. For more information visit www.qrida.qld.gov.au.

Services following a disaster

Government and non-government organisations provide a range of services following a disaster that may include:

  • information on self-recovery
  • referral to support agencies
  • direct personal support and referral to counselling
  • referral to financial counselling
  • referral to mental health
  • referral to agencies providing material assistance
  • financial assistance and emergency relief funding
  • referral to accommodation and housing services
  • referral to other agencies to assist resilience building
  • long-term support to assist with individual and community resilience through community development strategies and activities.
