Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program

The Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program encourages all Queenslanders to participate in National Reconciliation Week and commemorate two significant milestones in our national history—the successful 1967 Referendum and the 1992 High Court Mabo decision.

National Reconciliation Week, 27 May ̶ 3 June, is a national campaign that celebrates and builds on respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and other Australians.

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2018 is Don’t Keep History a Mystery. This year’s theme invites all Australians to come together to learn, share and develop a deeper understanding and broader acceptance of our shared national story.

Grants of up to $2500 (exclusive of GST) per event will deliver a range of reconciliation events that:

  • raise community awareness about National Reconciliation Week and the National Reconciliation Week 2018 theme
  • offer community members opportunities to learn, share, and grow, for example, through sharing stories about past events, showcasing local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, arts and cultural activities
  • promote and facilitate respect, trust and positive relationships between the wider Queensland community and Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • encourage community participation and engagement
  • contribute to a statewide program of inclusive and innovative community events, initiatives and promotions
  • promote social cohesion through building better relationships between Aboriginal peoples, Torres Strait Islander peoples, and non-Indigenous Queenslanders.

Successful applicants

Funding has been allocated to 40 ‘grass roots’ reconciliation events across Queensland, which will be held in or around National Reconciliation Week 2018.

Congratulations to the successful applicants who have received a small grant.
