Year of Accessible Tourism

2023 is the Year of Accessible Tourism, part of the Towards Tourism 2032 strategy to make Queensland a destination for people of all abilities.

Changing the perception of what it means to be an accessible tourism business, targeted initiatives will help Queensland tourism businesses better cater to visitors of all abilities and promote their accessible tourism destinations and experiences in Queensland.

The Queensland Government’s $12 million investment includes:

  • $10 million Accessible Tourism Fund for small to medium tourism businesses to build infrastructure and install technology to assist travellers with an impairment
  • $1 million to raise awareness of accessibility needs and services
  • $1 million to promote accessible Queensland visitor experiences

These initiatives will provide greater destination experiences for visitors of all abilities holidaying in Queensland and provide legacy outcomes, including built infrastructure and skills development for tourism operators, across the state in preparation for Brisbane 2032.
