Queensland’s waste levy
A levy on waste going to landfill will commence on 1 July 2019.
This is part of a new waste management and resource recovery strategy for Queensland—creating a future where waste is avoided, reduced, reused, and recycled to the greatest extent possible.
The waste levy will encourage business and industry to reduce, reuse and recycle more, only sending waste that cannot be recovered to landfill.
The waste levy will not have a direct impact on Queensland households, however everyone is encouraged to do their bit by reducing waste and recycling more.
