Hydrogen Industry Development Workforce Roadmap 2022-2032

As interest in renewable energy grows worldwide, Queensland is at an important stage in developing the hydrogen industry due to our abundant renewable energy resources, quality infrastructure, and experience as a global energy supplier.

Hydrogen is a clean, renewable fuel that can be used in transport, power supply, and a range of industrial processes. In the future, green hydrogen—made using renewable energy—will support the decarbonisation of transport and industry.

To prepare Queenslanders to take part in hydrogen opportunities and ensure the industry can access the workers it needs, we have worked with industry to develop the Hydrogen Industry Workforce Development Roadmap 2022–2023.

The Roadmap sets out a range of short, medium and long-term actions to deliver a strong and adaptable workforce for a safe and thriving Queensland hydrogen industry, and focuses on:

  • building a pipeline of skilled, adaptable workers for the hydrogen industry.
  • sharing knowledge to support hydrogen skills development, training, and safety considerations
  • maximising the benefits of hydrogen for communities through local approaches to hydrogen workforce development, skills and training
  • using data insights to plan for industry workforce needs over time.
