Funding boost for BIGSOUND
Queensland’s music scene has received a major boost with the Queensland Government announcing funding of nearly $4 million over the next four years for QMusic’s annual BIGSOUND event.
The funding boost was announced 28 March 2023 at the Queensland Music Awards in Brisbane, where industry gathered to celebrate and honour the state’s gifted homegrown music talent.
Funding will support key initiatives and raise the international profile of the state’s contemporary music and artists, as well as growing First Nations music. Partnerships designed to attract international talent exclusively to BIGSOUND will also help grow the number of visitors to Queensland and showcase our local talent alongside the best global artists.
Goolwal Goolwal is one exciting First Nations initiative delivered as part of BIGSOUND and will include the establishment of Yada Yutta-ba (House of First People), an Indigenous-led hub that will provide respite to First Nations artists, conference speakers, and delegates.
